Chapter Thirteen
The plan set in motion the next morning. Chirrut and Baze were talking amongst themselves while Jyn was muttering to herself, her words unheard by anyone else.
Cassian was still out like a light, and he hadn't awoken yet.
"Let's go now. Daylight won't last long." Chirrut exclaimed, his voice the only other audible noise besides Jyn's musing. Baze walked over to where Cassian was sleeping and prodded him with a foot. Cassian awoke with a start, looking up to see Baze's foot tapping in front of his face with impatience.
"Okay," Cassian breathed. "I'm coming."
Any grogginess he felt had to disappear, as urgency of the mission took hold. After packing, the four departed, not knowing if and when they'd meet Bodhi.

Food rations were running low. With the crackers long gone and water 3/4 of the way through, Bodhi had decided to try his hand at catching fish instead to supplement his nutrition. Jyn had been more skillful - While she had only been wet due to wading in water, drops of ocean water were scattered all over Bodhi's jacket as the fish he grappled with wildly waved its tail and fins.
Bodhi took a stick and drove it into the struggling animal, and breathed a sigh of relief as it stopped moving.
This was one of the few times Bodhi had to utilize the survival skills he had picked up from a long time ago. Training required it. He was a pilot - He was better at flying ships and fighter jets - at least he could get the job done in regards to food.
As Bodhi cooked the fish and ate the succulent meat, he reviewed over what he had found since the last two days. He had discovered that the only bases occupied by stormtroopers were west of where Bodhi's ship was. If he traveled east, in the opposite direction, there wasn't much activity there. Yet he had to be careful.
The shield gate was down, as far as he knew: all he had to do was fly out. Although the ship had long been ready for use, a nagging feeling gnawed at his heart. There was still something else Bodhi couldn't forget on the island. But what was it?
Bodhi heard footsteps clanking towards the ship. They were from the west.
He quickly poured water over the small flames and kicked sand and dirt over the food scraps.
His eyes couldn't see if the enemies were approaching. Whispers of leaves from plants were the only other sounds present. The hollow phantom noise of footfalls unnerved Bodhi as they were immense one moment and discreet the next.
Bodhi figured he could peer out from behind some shrubs or trees to the east, since he knew nobody would be there to catch him off guard. He hustled over to one palm tree, craning his neck around the tree trunk to see two stormtroopers standing in the place he had just been. Moments ago.
The muffled voices spoke:
"See anybody out here?"
"I was told to check for any remaining Rebels. Heard that some of them were still around."
If only they would leave! If I had a blaster gun I could finish them off easily... but I don't! Bodhi thought to himself.
"What's this?" Shoes scuffed the earth to reveal a smoldering pile of wood.
"Someone's been here. Recent from the look of it. And there's a U-Wing just sitting here. Board it and search all the compartments. We'll need to report this to the others when we get back."
Report? No! I can't let that happen!
Bodhi began to panic. The ship was like a jewel, something so rare and valuable -
If the ship was infiltrated and the stormtroopers did something to it, he was done for.
He glanced right and left, eyes gleaming when he saw a large wooden pole lying not too far away. He considered it his lucky day - It could serve as a weapon! Bodhi was far enough from the ship so the stormtroopers wouldn't notice him. He snatched it up in his hands before returning to his previous location to plan his next move.
