Chapter Six
Bodhi stretched his arms out towards the sky, swinging them back to his side a moment later. Knowing he had miraculously survived made him feel he had been given a second chance at life. He wasn't planning on wasting it.
Bodhi stepped out from the cargo ship he was on. After the blast had occurred, Bodhi had fled the Shuttle
SW-0608 and found a different ship to reside in for the night. He was lucky. There were some
biscuits waiting for him in the new ship's storage, and a small bottle of fresh water that lay beside the food, unopened.
Bodhi decided he would reside in the U-Wing for now - He needed to see if it was functioning properly or not, so that he could fly it and possibly see if there were any survivors left on the island. The pilot set to work, stepping outside and making a wide circle around the ship, visually inspecting it along the way. There was a chance he could still get out of Scarif! The thought made him even more determined.

The next morning, both Jyn and Cassian were awake. Cassian's wounds were re-bandaged. The gash had thinned, only a pale red mark remained.
Cassian had never considered himself a burden to others. In group missions, he could be relied upon to stick to a plan and see it through, swift in his actions and easily adaptable. There hadn't been a time that he slowed anyone down. But he was reconsidering that thought at this moment. Despite its look, his injury was still somewhat painful. If he went out now, a long journey on foot had the potential to tire him out, making him a hindrance than a help.
He knew that the longer he spent in their shelter recuperating, the less time he and Jyn had to escape. There could be shore troopers patrolling the other side - Who knew? They could come by anytime and wreck any chance of their survival.
These were a new type of trooper he wasn't as familiar with. Highly specialized, trained to specifically protect any Imperial data and kill any foreign object or person they didn't recognize. They had E-11 and E-22 blaster guns, upgraded and possibly harboring deadly energy. He didn't want to find out what kind of power those guns had.
But despite his misgivings, he felt he was in no position to walk far distances. There was no choice but to
stay longer in the cave. Waiting like a sitting duck. The only reassurance relieving the pressure was keeping in mind the shelter he had chosen was well hidden. Jyn had admitted that herself.
Jyn was doing all of the work, packing gear, so she could scout around for a ship.
"I'll be back. Don't worry about me. Use the communicator if you really feel you have to, " she had said. Then she disappeared, gone again.
Jyn seemed to not want anything to do with him, only speaking the bare minimum. He shook his head and pushed away the idea - She probably had too much to focus on at the moment. If their roles had been reversed, he would have acted the same way - filled with a sense of urgency and no time for small talk - or any kind of talk except for those involving survival.
Cassian wanted something to do - Otherwise he'd get bored. Find some food, maybe, for later.
The sea called to him, reflections of the sun dancing in his eyes from the shining water. It was beautiful in the dawn of morning, but he had to focus - Food was priority. Cassian redirected his attention to a berry bush not too far away. During his training when he was younger, he had to learn to recognize potential food sources. He was grateful now for such knowledge. Cassian plucked a red berry and held it up to his nose. Inhaling its scent, he thought it seemed pretty fresh.
A memory came back to him - When K2 was still alive, the reprogrammed droid had collected data on Scarif. The robot had randomly listed different categories of plants and berries that could be found on the island, as well as their health benefits. Cassian had absently dismissed his words, more focused on how he was going to get the Imperial plans than listen to his best friend talk about berries. He regretted not listening, as he stood now racking his brain for the information that had been shared to him some distant time ago.
He strained to recollect the name of the fruit: The Acerola Cherry! These were good for the immune system, stimulating the body to produce more white blood cells to fight off infection. They could also fight off cancer, regulate metabolism, and promote heart health. This could be useful. Cassian plucked off as many berries as he could fit into one pocket, leaving the other empty. He would try to see if there were other fruits on this island.
