*If you have already watched Rogue One: A Starwars Story, you may continue onward to the first chapter. Otherwise, feel free to read the prologue. The prologue features details about the main characters and sets up the story's beginning in regards to Chapter 1 and [Supplemental Data: Shield Gate Offensive.]

                                                                     _________

It is a period of civil war. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to destroy the Empire's ultimate weapon, the Death Star, an armored space station whose name strikes fear in the hearts of many.

As of now, the Death Star is only in its early stages of construction: It contains just enough energy to destroy areas the size of small cities. It is only a matter of time before the super-weapon develops its full capabilities.

Taking place in between Episodes Three & Four of the beloved series Starwars, this is the story of those "rebel spies." Five have joined together to form the team Rogue One.

Chirrut Imwe: A deeply spiritual believer in the Force, Chirrut lived on a planet named Jedha, guarding the last of the Jedi temples - Kyber Temple. He is calm in many situations and is very perceptive of others, despite being blind. He seems to know more about others than they know themselves. Chirrut has a light bow he uses against enemies.

Baze Malbus: Chirrut's long time friend who lost his faith in the Force due to unknown circumstances. He remains skeptical of its power, and often ignores Chirrut's words: "I am one with the Force, the Force is with me." Baze was once also a guardian of the temple, alongside Chirrut. Skilled in weaponry combat and aim, Baze has a blaster cannon he carries around with him.

Cassian Andor: The "by-the-book," practical captain of the Rebel Alliance. His unwavering loyalty for the group often conflicts with his own sense of morality, as assignments from the Alliance require him to do anything for the organization, such as assassination, spying, sabotage, and more. He has been hardened by his experiences and hardly communicates with others outside of missions. Not many know who Cassian truly is under the stony, serious persona he shows to the world.  Cassian is accompanied by his only friend, an Imperial droid he reprogrammed himself named K-2SO

Jyn Erso: Daughter of Galen Erso, who reluctantly joined the Alliance in order to fulfill her father's dying wish. She was recruited by the organization when they rescued her from a labor camp on the planet Wobani. At age 6, her mother was killed by a man named Orson Krennic. Her father taken away, she was raised under the Erso's family friend, Saw Gerrera, who trained her to survive in harsh environments of the galaxy. She was abandoned at age 16 by Saw and his group - left to fend for herself. As a result of the cruel act, she guards her heart closely and shuts herself off from everyone, anger her only emotional weapon against the world. Jyn longs to be set free from her burden, but feels she cannot.

Bodhi Rook: A pilot that used to be part of the Imperial Empire, a corrupt sector of the dictatorial government intent on destroying the Alliance. He forms the last of the five members, and coined the name "Rogue One" for the team. He defected from the Empire and followed Galen's orders to deliver the message about the Death Star's secret plans to the rebels. Bodhi, although timid at times, shows great courage when the time calls for it.

Jyn's father, Galen Erso, is a scientist who was forced by Krennic to return to the planet Eadu to continue Death Star research. He decided to go willingly along with the Imperials to "follow their orders," when in fact, he used the time at Eadu to hide a flaw deep within the Death Star. The only way to find out where the flaw is located is through stealing the secret plans hidden within an Imperial database.

The team has already traveled to many planets: Jedha, where Jyn confronted Saw Gerrera after many years to receive her father's message about the flaw in the Death Star. It is at Jedha that Jyn and Cassian meet Baze, Chirrut, and Bodhi. In the research base at Eadu, Jyn sees her father for the first and last time after many years. Later, on a moon named Yavin 4 where the Rebel Alliance meets, Jyn and the others decide to go against the disbelief of the council members to take action on their own.

The main battle occurs on Scarif, a secluded, tropical planet that houses various Imperial projects, including the construction of the first Death Star. Due to its importance, the planet is protected by an impenetrable shield, the only opening and exit being the shield gate. The Rogue One team has arrived with the intention of transmitting the Death Star plans off of Scarif. After learning of what happens, the Alliance decides to send help. The battle cry of war surrounds them on all sides, allies falling with every blow with their fight against stormtroopers and other foes, sent by Krennic himself, who has personally arrived to "see to the end of the Alliance." One from the team has already perished. To get to the plans and transmit them from the main security complex, Citadel Tower, communication needs to occur between the Alliance and the rebels below, through the shield gate. Alliance fighter jets in space above have utilized a ship called a Star Destroyer to temporarily break down the shield gate's barrier. The next step to transfer the plans is for the rebels to reach the master switch, which will open up the communication channel. Jyn and Cassian have reached Citadel Tower, waiting for word from the others. Bodhi is in a ship, putting a cable through an open port to alert the Alliance. Chirrut and Baze are near the master switch. The powerful Death Star looms overhead, ready to strike the tower with its green laser to destroy Citadel Tower and the surrounding area with a single reactor ignition.

With the race against time, will the rebels succeed in their mission? What will happen to Rogue One?
